The DoD has ramped up enforcement of existing DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements. The Pentagon recently reminded the DIB that defense contractors must implement all NIST 800-171 security controls and have a POA&M for controls not yet implemented. Failure to have or make progress on an implementation plan can lead to withholding contract progress payments or even terminating contracts.
On August 2nd, global technology leader Amazon Web Services (AWS), ComplyUp and DTC Global joined together for a webinar focused on helping defense contractors understand how their organizations can meet their compliance obligations and prepare for DoD assessments. The webinar highlighted:
- Key updates on CMMC implementation and compliance timelines
- Getting started on DFARS 7012 and NIST 800-171 compliance programs
- Meeting 102 out of 110 NIST 800-171 controls
- Ensuring proper submission of an SPRS score
By attending this webinar, DIB organizations were able to understand the impact of the DoD’s cybersecurity program on their businesses and how to prepare for future compliance assessments.
